National Service Scheme (NSS)

National service scheme (NSS) was started in the academic year of 2013-2014 with 100 volunteers from our college. Each and every academic year NSS had the function of inaugural and valedictory with volunteer’s effective participation.

During the academic year of 2013-14 Dr.R.UMAPATHI,the principal SSNC, inaugurated NSS unit with 100 volunteers. Dr.S.NANDAKUMAR, Co-ordinator, Periyar University, Salem who aided as a chief guest in the inaugural function of NSS on January 22nd 2014. 08/02/2014 the NSS team conducted women’s day celebration presided by the principal. Role play dramas performed by NSS volunteers made awareness among the women folk. 27/06/2014 NSS team visited Kadayampatty Aanjaneyar temple cleared around the temple area and volunteering people to form in queues to maintain discipline law and order.A drama conducted on that day with the concept of illiteracy among woman to set right the society better.

A conference conducted by NSS on 22/09/2014 M.SAMPATH KUMAR, Co- ordinator of Nehru yuva Kendra, Salem aided as a chief guest and Dr. KANNAN, as a special invitee participated in the conference. The main theme of conference is all about awareness of child marriage and its social impact. A seven day special camp from 02/09/2014 to 07/09/2014 at Kanavaipudur village to set an example of a clean village. Again 20/11/2014 free eye camp with a special social service intention.

Dr. KAVITHA conducted it successfully. This being sponsored by sri Ramakrishna ashram , salem. A lot of benefiziaries from general public got eye surgery at free of cost.This helped people to get light from dark. On January 12th,2015, national youth day and pongal celebrations arrange by NSS volunteers. Who with cultural costumes entertained our college students. Then on 23rd march 2015, a dengue fever awareness procession from deevattipatty police station to Kadayampatty government health centre.

Students carried placards and making slogans to stop dengue fever and how it affects. This was inaugurated the procession by Dr.S.SADHU BAKTHA SINGH, medical officer, primary health centre, Kadayampatty. A special medical camp sponsored by Sri Ramakrishna ashramam Salem on 10th may 2015 helped a number of village people benefited.

On 15th October 2015 NSS team celebrated Abdul Kalams 84th birthday the correspondent inaugurated the function. Miss. Nandhini from chemistry department, S.Sumitha from english department delivered special speech about Dr.APJ.

Indian constitution day celebrated on 26th October,2015. Our college principal Dr.S.PRABHA acted as a chief guest. A special speech on Dr.Ambedkar and Indian constitution day was delivered by Asst. Professor of English Mrs.S.PRAMILA DEVI. It was an inspiring speech which made a great impact on our students. In future NSS volunteers have plans to conduct many awareness programmers, camps, and events in and around the college and village.
